Hello everyone! I received and bought quite a few books in January! There are a lot of books here (I honestly don’t know how I got so many), but I would like to say that about 7 were review copies, a few were on sale for nothing (as in they cost absolutely nothing) and there are a couple of pre-orders in here as well. Without further ado, here are the 33 books I acquired in January!

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Recommended to me by my English teacher. Obviously a classic.
  • The Gender Game by Bella Forrest. First book in a YA Fantasy series.
  • How to Find Love in A Bookshop by Veronica Henry. Adult contemporary.

  • The Mirror & the Maze by Renée Ahdieh. Book 1.5 in the Wrath and the Dawn duology (YA Fantasy). A short story; free to download on Kindle.
  • Secrets of Artemis by C. K. Brooke. Book 1 in the Teen Goddess series (YA Fantasy). Review copy.
  • RoseBlood by A. G. Howard. A Phantom of the Opera retelling/re-imagining. YA Fantasy. Pre-ordered.

  • The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman. First book in the Lady Helen series (YA Fantasy set in Victorian times). Was free for download on Kindle, but isn’t anymore.
  • Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. Book 4 in the Outlander series (Adult Fantasy/ Historical Fiction). My mum already owned this book, so I downloaded it off the Kindle Archived Items.
  • Soar by Alyssa Rose Ivy. Book 1 in the Empire Chronicles (NA Paranormal Romance; companion series to the Crescent Chronicles). Free for download on Kindle.

  • The Ashes and the Sparks by Mary Victoria Johnson. Review Copy. YA Fantasy-thriller.
  • Search by Alyssa Rose Ivy. Book 2 in the Empire Chronicles (NA Paranormal Romance; companion series to the Crescent Chronicles).
  • Windwitch by Susan Dennard. Book 2 in the Witchlands series (YA Fantasy). Pre-ordered.

  • The Immortals by S. E. Lister. Adult/YA (I’m not really sure) Fantasy and Historical Fiction. Recommended to lovers of The Night Circus, but the summary also reminds me of Miss Peregrine’s Home and Outlander.
  • The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Adult Historical Fiction. This was all over BookTube and sounds really interesting.
  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Book 1 in the Kingkiller Chronicles (Adult Fantasy). Recommended to me by a friend.

  • Till Death and Beyond by Lyn C. Johanson. NA/Adult Fantasy. Book 1 in the Witch Worlds series. Review copy.
  • Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken. Book 2 in the Passenger duology (YA Fantasy). Pre-ordered.
  • Chameleon by Zoe Kalo. YA Fantasy. Review copy.

  • Shadows of the Forest by Emma Michaels. YA Fantasy. Review copy.
  • A Boy Made of Blocks by Keith Stuart. Adult contemporary.
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Book 1 in the ACOTAR trilogy (NA Fantasy). Re-purchased as this was the only Sarah J. Maas book I didn’t own a physical copy of.

  • Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter. Adult Magical Realism. Recommended for those who love The Night Circus.
  • Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. YA Fantasy/Steampunk. Re-purchased as I previously owned only the ebook and I love the TID series + the new covers are gorgeous + it was part of 3 for £10 deal on Amazon.
  • Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman. Adult Contemporary. Part of afore-mentioned deal as well; I loved the previous Fredrik Backman book I read.

  • When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore. YA Magical Realism. Recommended for fans of The Night Circus.
  • The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. Adult Magical Realism and Historical Fiction. Recommended for fans of The Night Circus.
  • The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker. Adult Fantasy.

  • Legacy of the Mind by H. R. Moore. Book 1 in the Legacy Trilogy. YA Fantasy. Review copy.
  • A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. YA Sci-Fi. Book 1 in the Firebird trilogy.
  • First Year by Rachel E. Carter. Book 1 in the Black Mage series (YA Fantasy). Free if you sign up for the author’s newsletter.

  • The Duchess Inheritance by C. K. Brooke. Book 2 in the Jordinia series (YA Fantasy). On sale for £0.99 on Kindle.
  • The Careful Undressing of Love by Corey Ann Haydu. YA Magical Realism. Pre-ordered, comes out 31st of January.
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber. YA Fantasy. Pre-ordered, comes out 31st of January.

And that is all! Have you read any of these? Let me know your thoughts! Happy reading, Keira x.

I’ve just finished the Dark Days Pact (Book 2 in the Lady Helen series). I loved it, really hope you enjoy the dark days club when you pick it up

I finished soar recently and found out there are books prior that set up the universe a bit. I don’t think they are necessary but sounds like quite a few of the characters originate there.

Yes, for sure! I read the previous series a couple of years ago and actually enjoyed that a lot more than the Empire Chronicles so far 🙂

Good to hear. I feel like this series would actually do better as a tv show. I enjoy it but it has a tv feel.

I definitely think the main character and plot of the Empire Chronicles isn’t as strong as the Crescent Chronicles.
