Shellacking | Exquisite Wordiness

‘Exquisite Wordiness’ is a bookish meme hosted by Down the Reading Hole.  It’s a great way to build your vocabulary for writing and is also really fun, so I do encourage you to join in! The theme for October is ‘I’m afraid that…’ so all the words will have to do with fear! For today I chose the word ‘shellacking’.

In this case, we are not talking about shellac the noun or as verb definition number 1, but as verb definition number 2 ‘defeat or beat decisively’. This relates to fear in that people fear failure. Yes, I know, it is a strech, but I thought this was too cool a word to pass up! Happy reading, Keira x.
